Leicester City Council to end post-16 school transport for SEND students
In Leicester, the future of school students with special educational needs and disabilities has been thrown into doubt, after the city council announced it would only fund home-to-school transport for those aged 16 or over in "exceptional circumstances".
The cash-strapped authority isn't required by law to provide the transport - and parents now face an anxious wait to see if their children qualify.
Specialist education providers around the country are now worried that they too could be in line for cuts.
