Is This The Best Off Grid Bathroom Solution? Tiny Home Building, in Remote Canada
When designing a home, the bathroom is pretty high on the priority list, because it serves an incredibly important role. When building off grid, it becomes slightly more difficult, and when building on such a small piece of land, even more. When I purchased this property, there was already an outhouse on site, so it prompted some thoughts. Moreover, I have seen some very nice and functional outhouses through my travels, and it seemed like a very practical option for this build, especially considering I am an amateur builder.
After doing some research into the function of an outhouse, and how to make it usable long term, I was actually surprised more people dont look this route for their off grid or cabin build. All you really need is a large hole, something to shore it up, and some ground that allows for good drainage, and you can have a bathroom that will serve you well for decades. For the two of us, especially traveling most of they year, this system should last possibly the rest of our lives. If not, surely long enough to come up with a better more permanent solution. All in all, I couldn't really ask for a better set up so far.
