Adult Piano Learner? Use the Minute↔Minute Rule
Many adult piano learners feel stuck — spending too much time thinking about music theory, practice routines, or even self-doubt, and not enough time actually playing. In this video, I share a simple strategy I call the Minute-to-Minute Rule, which can help you make real progress at the piano.
Kids often learn faster because they focus on the problem right in front of them, with their hands on the keyboard. Adults, by contrast, often get lost in theory videos, practice doubts, or endless questions about the "right" way to learn. The Minute-to-Minute Rule helps you rebalance: for every minute you spend thinking about piano, aim to spend at least a minute actually playing. Better yet, make it five!
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering why you’re not improving as quickly as you’d like, this simple shift in mindset and practice might make all the difference.
