Mohammed Sami – 'There's beauty in the question' | Turner Prize 2025 | Tate
Mohammed Sami reflects on his artistic process as he approaches a new canvas for the first time. Drawing from memories of his early life in Iraq, Sami discusses the artist’s mindset and how everyday objects, empty spaces, light and shadow become vessels for a human presence to convey what is not there. By embracing ambiguity, absence and repetition, Sami invites viewers to always ask questions.
Mohammed Sami is nominated for the 2025 Turner Prize, on display at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Bradford, 27 September 2025 to 22 February 2026: https://bradford2025.co.uk/programme/turner-prize-2025
