The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is trailing badly in opinion polls ahead of Sunday's elections, has told supporters that "the stakes are high and change is dangerous".
Crowds have also gathered at a rally near the capital for the centre-left opposition leader Peter Magyar.
