The Wooden Castle Chord Loop: Easy, Jazzy Piano Improvisation
This piano tutorial explores a more interesting kind of chord loop — the kind that actually inspires real piano improvisation.
Most chord loops are pretty basic (and, let’s be honest, a bit dull), but I’ve built this one to be more engaging, using things like 11th chords and a harmonic structure that works with both the D natural minor and D Dorian scales.
We’ll build it up step by step:
* First, the chords themselves
* Then, a rhythmic left-hand pattern
* Finally, some right-hand melodic improvisation
It’s a great way to develop your improvisation skills while playing something that actually sounds good.
