Custom Car Door Framing_ Fender & Running Board Mod

Now that the door opens different, this body gap needs to be redone in a different shape to make sense.
Can you see why?
I've been so torn on this... Many 39 zephyrs and up having the "hidden running board" cut off the bottom of the door and welded to the car and fender. Its more work to keep it on the door and i don't know why I am going this route. There is good reason not to. I looks awesome smoothed out and welded.
