Whimsical Tiny Tree House is Cleverly Built with Reclaimed & Eclectic Materials – FULL TOUR
This tiny treehouse in Gibsons, BC sits on top of a red cedar tree stump, and is built with the wood from that same tree. It's only 97 square feet on the main floor, with a loft on top of that, and the rooftop deck is 27 feet off the ground. It's a beautiful and unique tiny space with loads of character and charm. In addition to building with the milled cedar wood from the backyard, the treehouse build was completed using almost all secondhand items and reclaimed materials that came from places like the Restore, from friends, and even some items from the Aquaman movie set and Mad Men tv show set. Everything except the front door was used, which helped reduce the budget and the impact on the environment.

It was designed as a space for creativity and connection to nature by a woman named Kassandra Parker who is a teacher, a mom, and a life coach who also had a hobby of designing tiny homes and treehouses for fun. When she had to take down two trees in her yard to make space for a food garden, her friend Trevor encouraged her to use the wood from the trees for something more than just firewood, and so the opportunity arose to make one of her designs a reality using the milled wood from the downed trees. The serendipity continued when a friend of hers showed her treehouse design to his uncles in Quebec, who offered to travel to BC to build it for Kassandra if she covered their airfare and food. Thanks to Richard, Stéphane and André, the structure of the treehouse was built in just 9 days, and then Kassandra spent a year finishing the interior herself.
The treehouse is accessed by a curved staircase made with round slices of the cedar tree and a driftwood railing. There is a covered deck overlooking the garden, and a second staircase leading to a rooftop deck.
On the main floor, there's a little kitchenette, a small seating area overlooking the garden, a luxurious bathroom, and a storage staircase that leads up to the loft. One of the most stunning features of the treehouse are the 7 foot windows that came from a church that was being torn down and that provide a ton of natural light and incredible views from the sleeping loft.
Building a fully functional space with all of the amenities in under 100 square feet is quite a feat and Kassandra and her friends and family did a fantastic job! We loved checking out this tiny treehouse that was clearly built with a lot of love! We hope you did, too :)
