⚠ Important Warning About Play-Along Apps
The biggest problem with Play-Along Apps like #irealpro , #Band-in-a-Box, is that they can rob you of real learning opportunities if you’re not careful.
Unless you have an exceptional ear, you won’t truly hear the piano voicings — whether the chord has a ♯5, ♭9, etc. The solution?
Record yourself playing the tune on piano. This way, you’ll hear and learn the sounds, discover the chord voicings you like, and train your ear while practicing. Over time, this builds awareness of the notes you actually want to hit when improvising.
I’m not saying don’t use these apps — they’re great for jamming and having fun. But long-term reliance without active harmonic study can harm your musicianship..
