The living Pastor (Christopher Lee) tries to stop demons from entering the church where Vincent (Johnny Depp) almost reluctantly fulfills his vows to Emily (Helena Bonham Carter) by drinking poison at their wedding in the land of the living. Before he can drink the poisoned wine, Emily spots Vincents living fiancé, Victoria (Emily Watson) and calls off the wedding. However, Emily recently had an arranged marriage with Lord Barkis (Richard E. Grant), the man revealed to have made Emily a corpse bride. Lord Barkis challenges Vincent to a duel to the death over Victoria's hand in marriage.
