Argentina truly lives up to its reputation as the home of the world's best steak!
The asado and parillas culture, especially throughout Buenos Aires, is one of my absolute favorite parts of this beautiful country. Coming together with family and friends to share these meals shows that the community surrounding it is just as important as the food itself.
In the heart of Palermo, the absolute highlight of my food tour was a restaurant called Don Julio.
Fun fact: Lionel Messi has dined there when he visits the city. While at Don Julio, I had the opportunity to sample a wide array of meats and indulge in nine different types of Argentine wine.
The standard in Argentina is to have a steak well done but, coming from the US, that would be a crime! Argentines also eat all parts of the cow and it's typical for the meals to start with sweetbread.
I ended up devouring a total of eight mouthwatering asados (grilled meat meals). I have to admit, I think I'll need a break from red meat for a while after this!?
