In this video from Berklee Online Course Music Production 101, instructor Michael Bierylo teaches you how to add a backing groove by asking artist Goz Asai to play and sing a song on top of a groove made in Ableton Live. Bierylo, who authored this course with David Mash, turns off the click and records the guitar and voice audio once. Then he asks the artist to record the vocals a second time, which is helpful if you want to double the vocals to give it more body, but it’s also helpful if you want to have a different take to edit and use to augment the original take.
