I worked with the State of Florida for 25 years, primarily in the HIV section, and also served as the HIV Administrator for the state. After retiring from state service, I started my own consultancy, Empower HIV Health, where I serve as the founder and principal consultant. I work with local, state, and federal agencies on HIV-related initiatives and also support organizations with IT solutions such as database development, digital transformation, and website design.
Project management was always a key part of my work, but I wanted to formalize my knowledge and learn the right terms, tools, and processes. My goal was to enhance my leadership skills, better guide teams, and ensure projects are managed efficiently and professionally—both in my past government role and now in my consulting business. That’s why I decided to pursue the PMP certification.
I had a very positive experience. The platform was flexible, which allowed me to balance classes with my full-time work.
