The purussaurus was the largest caiman that ever lived and ruled a massive swamp in what is now the Amazon rainforest. At first its body made no sense. It was simply too big and hunting prey would have been tough. It's hard to sneak up to prey when you're the size of a bus. But recent evidence shows that it did hunt and captured prey with amazing precision, going for the face when they approached the lake for a sip of water. This caiman was scarier than the creature of the black lagoon. It was the real Amazonian swamp monster.
