Dolly Parton Posthumously Accepts Music Award: New Message Filmed Just Weeks Before Death
Dolly Parton posthumously accepted the Americana Music Honors & Awards Lifetime Achievement Award via video message recorded just three weeks before her death. Looking glamorous and upbeat, despite her private battle with cancer, Parton concluded her heartfelt message by telling fans, 'And just know that I will always love you.' Parton’s Lifetime Achievement Award was announced earlier this month, though the honor had clearly been in the works for some time. The existence of her acceptance speech came as a surprise to the audience, as did a tribute performance by Brandi Carlile, who sang one of Parton’s signature songs, 'Coat of Many Colors.' Dolly is also expected to appear in another pre-recorded video message on Sept. 19 for the ACM Honors, where she will posthumously accept the prestigious Poets Award.
