Court Orders Trump to Pay E. Jean Carroll $5.6 Million in Defamation Case
A federal judge has cleared the way for writer E. Jean Carroll to collect more than $5.6 million awarded in her sexual abuse and defamation case against President Donald Trump. The funds had been held in a court escrow account since 2023 after a jury found Trump liable. Carroll accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store in 1996, while Trump has denied the allegations and continued to appeal the rulings. Trump is also challenging a separate $83 million defamation award granted to Carroll by another jury.
