Iran defended its recent strikes on U.S. military installations as acts of self-defense during the United Nations General Assembly on September 28. Nasser Assadi Nazari, third counsellor of Iran’s UN mission, warned that any future regional aggression would trigger a "devastating response" and asserted that neighboring nations permitting attacks from their territory bear legal responsibility. Nazari also defended Tehran's sovereignty over three disputed Gulf islands in response to the United Arab Emirates and dismissed criticism from Canada.
