NASA unveiled its aggressive plan to set up a permanent presence on the moon with a base that, along with housing astronauts, will include lunar vehicles for exploration and both solar and nuclear power stations. Among the challenges for a permanent outpost are exposure to radiation, varying temperatures and micro-meteorites constantly raining down. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY.
