A cargo ship carrying over 2,500 containers has sunk in the Strait of Hormuz after reportedly being hit by an ‘unknown projectile’.

GFS Pride was sailing through the Strait on it’s way to Singapore when it was allegedly struck, according to maritime officials.
Iran had earlier released a statement saying a cargo ship had sunk after hitting a naval mine but it’s not clear whether they’re referring to the same ship.
There’s been a surge in attacks in the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks as the US has doubled down on sanctions and blockade of Iranian ports.
