Crowdfunding Timelines & What to Do Before Launching a Campaign | Project Management for Musicians
Access Free Music Resources: https://berkonl.in/3HPNkYL
In this video from Berklee Online’s Project Management for Musicians course, crowdfunding consultant and campaign producer Laser Webber walks through the stages of planning and running a successful crowdfunding campaign. From building timelines and budgets to preparing rewards, audience engagement, and fulfillment, Laser explains why the work you do before launch is often more important than the campaign itself. The crowd comes before the funding, he says, encouraging you to engage in about 10 weeks of weekly interactions leading up to the start. During the campaign, he says, “a lot of work is just being there.”
Using examples from real music crowdfunding campaigns, Laser discusses creating realistic schedules with deadline “wiggle room,” and staying actively engaged throughout the campaign with livestreams, milestones, updates, and other fan interactions. He also emphasizes the importance of planning for everything that happens after the campaign ends, including recording, merch fulfillment, touring, and promotion.
Project Management for Musicians was written by Jonathan Feist and features guidance from working musicians, producers, and creative professionals on timelines, communication, budgeting, and managing complex creative projects.
