Caryle Murphy, Reporter in Kuwait During Iraqi Invasion, Dies at 79
Caryle Murphy, the brave, award-winning international reporter who occasionally used “Cloak and Dagger” methods to tell the story, has died at 79. When Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi army invaded in Kuwait in 1990, Murphy reportedly posed as a jogger there and would put her stories in a tube and toss them over the wall at the U.S. embassy. Sunday TODAY’s Willie Geist remembers a life well lived.
