On the eve of Election Day, President Donald Trump bypassed traditional campaign stops to highlight the completion of expensive, long-plagued renovations at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The decision presented an unusual midterm closing argument for Republicans, reflecting Trump’s ongoing second-term emphasis on beautifying the nation's capital. Speaking at the site, Trump remarked on his broader ambitions, noting, “We have a lot of great things planned for Washington, and I could get into the nation, but for that, you don’t have enough time."
