My name is Antonio Gonzalez. Over the past few years, I have been working as a software engineer. I am originally from Costa Rica and have around 25 years of experience across both industry and academia.
I have worked in several universities and in the industry, primarily focusing on computer networks, infrastructure configuration, and network security. About 10 years ago, I transitioned into software engineering and later moved back into academia.
I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science and another Master’s in Intelligent Systems, which focuses on artificial intelligence. I also have a PhD in Computer Science and have published around 60 papers in various conferences and journals.
Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in Cybersecurity at New York University.
Recently, I have been actively looking for new opportunities and attending interviews. At the same time, I realized that my knowledge in certain areas, especially AI, needed updating to match current industry expectations.
My Master’s in Intelligent Systems dates back to 2014. While the fundamentals of AI and machine learning remain the same, the field has advanced significantly in recent years with new techniques and methodologies.
I recognized the need to update my knowledge to stay aligned with current trends and advancements.
The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and its integration into various domains motivated me. I wanted to stay relevant and competitive, especially as companies now expect software engineers to also have AI and machine learning expertise.
I found the program while searching on the internet. I compared several options before deciding on this one.
The support was good overall. From the beginning, I informed the team that I might need additional time due to my commitments, including work and mentoring Master’s and PhD students.
They were very accommodating and granted me extra time to complete the program. This flexibility was very helpful, and I appreciate their support.
