Now, can the staunchly Republican state switch to the Democrats?
When Donald Trump was returned to the White House two years ago, Texas backed him strongly. And one of the reasons he beat the Democrats was a shift in the Latino vote, as male Latinos supported him by a two-to-one margin.
But that support has been eroded by the raids on workplaces by anti-immigration ICE agents. Throw in rising prices at the pumps and mammoth data centres, and you have trouble in Texas for Trump.
