A Missouri man who built a time machine in his own garage stepped into a swirling field of energy one night back in the nineteen nineties and simply stopped existing. His name was Mike Markham. For years, the people who followed his story figured he was dead, fried by his own invention or lost somewhere in time. Then a wooden box turned up behind the wall of a stranger's farmhouse, packed with journals and diagrams. And not long after that, a tired old voice on the phone said it belonged to a man who should have been gone forever. The time machine man had come back. What he claimed happened to him is stranger than disappearing.
