Scott-Vincent Borba didn’t ever imagine that one day he would be wearing a cassock backstage at the TODAY show, giving his first interview as an ordained Catholic priest.
“My younger self would have expected that I would be working late, hopefully on a yacht, with a big family and a beautiful wife. I would never have expected to be a Catholic priest,” Borba tells TODAY.com.
By the time he was 30, Borba was on top of the beauty and business worlds as the founder of E.L.F. Cosmetics, which he started in 2004. An abbreviation for “eyes, lips, face,” the brand is known for its quality cosmetics at a reasonable price point.
Almost exactly a year after E.L.F. Cosmetics made headlines for acquiring Hailey Bieber’s Rhode in a $1 billion deal, the brand was in the spotlight again — this time, because its founder had been ordained as a Catholic priest during a 2026 ceremony at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Visalia, California.
“Some of my best friends told me that they really were excited for my conversion, but that I was on a different life path now. They wished me well,” he says.
