Don’t Let Your Agent Touch Your Files

Should you run an autonomous AI agent on your own laptop? Probably not. An agent running locally isn't isolated, it has access to your entire file system and your machine has to stay on 24/7 or it breaks. Dedicated hardware like a Mac mini fixes the isolation but gets expensive fast if you're just experimenting.
The sweet spot is a virtual private server: cheap, fully isolated from your work, easy to shut off if something goes wrong, and you can wipe it completely without risking pricey hardware.
