On October 5, hundreds of Cornell University students, faculty, and activists rallied in Ithaca to support a student known as Jane Doe and demand stronger administrative action against campus sexual violence. The protest follows Doe's recent lawsuit alleging she was gang-raped by fraternity members in October 2024, a case that has sparked a national uproar and led New York Governor Kathy Hochul to appoint a special prosecutor to reopen the criminal investigation. While Cornell has defended its initial disciplinary response, demonstrators called for an external inquiry and the resignation of university leadership over their handling of the matter.
