The Sentencing Act, which came into force this year, allows some offenders to leave jail after serving just a third of their sentences and others just half of theirs.
The government says it has to tackle overcrowding in prisons in England and Wales.
We spoke to a group of survivors about the risks they say will come with the changes and the huge impact this is going to have on them and the wider community.
