At least 26 children have been killed in a school fire in the rebel-held city of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The area has been controlled by AFC/M23 rebels since February 2025.
The rebel group said dozens of people were injured and that adult bodies were also among those recovered.
It says an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway and warned that the death toll could rise.
