A red extreme heat warning has come into force for only the second time, covering parts of southern England and Wales and the Midlands.

It is due to last until 9pm tomorrow, with the Met Office warning that the heat and humidity pose a risk to life.
Hundreds of schools have closed and rail passengers are being warned to avoid non-essential travel.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 37 or 38 degrees, shattering the June record of 35.6.
