I've been teaching guitar for a long time and I keep seeing the same thing hold people back.
It has nothing to do with talent, age, or musical ability.
I recently taught a guy who had zero limiting beliefs about what he could do. When I played a Johnny B. Goode style riff in front of him, he didn't say it was too hard. He just picked up the guitar and tried. He couldn't do it, but he'll learn it faster than someone who talks themselves out of it before they even start.
