The Prime Minister says rape, serious child sex offences and grooming are to be excluded from the early release scheme for prisoners, designed to tackle overcrowding in jails.
It comes after Andy Burnham said he was suspending the planned early release of thousands of prisoners in England and Wales by a month and ordered an urgent review of the scheme.
