A balloon pilot had a lucky escape after strong winds sent it crashing into the side of a casino in northern California.

It was there as part of celebrations for the opening of a new hotel in Sacramento.
Local police said the winds created what they said was an ''unplanned launch" and the pilot was eventually able to get enough height to clear buildings and land safely, but only after hitting a power line.
