Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK had to be prepared for war to be able to deter potential enemies as he unveiled the goverment's £15 billion defence investment plan.

Starmer acknowledged some other areas of government spending would be slashed to fund defence, with road and energy projects scrapped to pay for the military.
The plan includes £5 billion to boost the use of drones and the navy using artificial intelligence and self-controlled vessels.
