Trump downplays AI risk calling it a ‘sick conspiracy’
After days of dire warnings from researchers and technology leaders that AI could take over the world and destroy humanity, President Trump has given his response joining China in rejecting calls for a slowdown in the development of new AI tools.
The President, writing on social media, added that what was needed was a strong and smart president and that there was no need to worry about AI - after a raft of warnings the technology could wreak havoc for humanity.
We spoke to Alex Turner, who worked as a research scientist at Google DeepMind. He resigned in June in protest at Google's decision to sell AI to the US military without restrictions on its use to enable killer robots or in mass surveillance.
