US President Donald Trump has said that Canada was keen to reach a trade deal with the United States and that an agreement could come "fairly soon".

But he also repeated claims that America's neighbours had treated US farmers "unfairly" over tariffs.
"Canada wants to make a deal very badly," Trump said, while answering questions from the media after a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin, adding, "You'll probably see a deal with Canada fairly soon."
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recently told Trump that Canada wouldn't accept a deal that weakened its industries or sovereignty, saying Trump needs to stop “trying to be tough” and urging him to negotiate seriously.
