This is a complete boxing workout at home for beginners using simple exercises that build strength, power, and conditioning specific to boxing. This beginner-friendly routine covers four key areas: lower body, upper body, core, and conditioning. Tony walks you through each exercise, explains proper form, and shows you how to use a 3-day weekly schedule to see results in just a few weeks.
Lower Body Strength for Boxing (Leg Power)
Start with bodyweight squats to build strength in your glutes, quads, and hips, the engine of every punch. Add squat jumps for explosiveness and step-ups to improve balance and single-leg power. Strong legs help you drive force from the ground into your punches.
Upper Body Strength for Boxing (Punching Muscles)
Push-ups develop chest, shoulders, and triceps for better punch speed and shoulder endurance. Use explosive push-up variations (like clap push-ups) to increase fast-twitch power. Pull-ups (wide and close grip) target the back and biceps, key muscles for punch recovery and snap. Dumbbell rows help build strength to return your punches quickly and maintain your guard.
Core Strength for Boxing Power
Your core links your upper and lower body. Planks and Russian twists will help you rotate powerfully, stay balanced, and absorb punches. Tony recommends finishing every session with core work to build stability and prevent breakdown in the later rounds.
Boxing Conditioning and Explosiveness
Burpees with jumps improve full-body power and endurance. Resistance band shadowboxing builds speed and stamina by increasing resistance on your punches. Box jumps enhance your footwork explosiveness. Dumbbell thrusters work the entire body under fatigue, just like in the ring.
Weekly Training Plan (3 Days)
Day 1: Squats, Squat jumps, Planks with shoulder taps, Russian twists
Day 2: Push-ups, pull-ups, dumbbell rows, Shadow Boxing with Resistance Band
Day 3: Box jumps, dumbbell thrusters, burpees with a jump, Shadow Box with Resistance Band
Tony explains how many sets and reps to do for each move, when to rest, and how to scale exercises to your fitness level. Everything is based on the real training methods used by elite fighters, no guesswork, no fluff.
This routine is perfect for anyone searching for boxing workouts at home, boxing strength training for beginners, and simple exercises to punch harder without equipment.
