When Solid Cargo Starts Acting Like Liquid
Vibration compacts wet cargo, but water cannot be compressed. If it becomes trapped between particles, pressure rises and reduces the friction holding those particles together.
The cargo can then flow almost like a liquid. This is liquefaction: a load that appears solid while loading, but can shift freely once the ship starts moving.
