Aerofoil Theory in Ship Propulsion
A Kort nozzle is not a plain tube. Its cross-section is an aerofoil shape, much like an aircraft wing.
A wing produces lift because its shape creates a pressure difference across its surfaces. The nozzle uses the same principle, but turns that pressure difference into forward thrust.
