Why Water Can “Boil” on a Propeller
If the aerofoil is reversed, the duct slows the incoming water and raises its pressure before it reaches the propeller blades.
This matters because an accelerating nozzle can allow pressure on the blade’s suction side to fall very low. If it drops below water’s vapour-pressure threshold, the water effectively begins to boil without being heated.
