More Anchors Didn’t Mean More Holding Power
The ship anchored close to another vessel in an area expected to have four to five knots of current. That was already a high-risk setting for an anchorage operation.
The chosen open moor may also have weakened the setup. Because the anchors were dropped far apart relative to the cable paid out, their combined holding power could have been lower than that of a single anchor.
